Old timer told me to stop using my random orbit sander on face frames and switch to a square pad sander
He said it would cut down my sanding time by half after I spent 3 hours on a single kitchen last week, and honestly he was right because the edges came out way cleaner and I didn't burn through any veneer, has anyone else had a similar experience making that swap?

Wait, you spent 3 hours on one kitchen? That's brutal. I feel your pain though. I made the same switch last year after ruining a cherry veneer with the orbital. The square pad just lets you get right into those corners without that stupid tipping problem. Plus the dust collection is way better on mine. It’s a game changer for face frames, honestly.

@jamiekim Also, that cherry veneer thing is rough but I'd argue most of the damage with an orbital comes from too much pressure, not the pad shape. You gotta let the tool do the work. The square pad is nice for toe kicks and face frames though, you're right about that. Only downside I've found is the sheets don't fit standard paper punches, so you're stuck buying their specific stuff.
