My finish nailer misfired into my own thumb at 7am and the customer saw everything

Working a small pantry job in Maplewood yesterday, first cabinet of the day. I was holding a trim piece in place and bracing it from the back, totally forgot my other hand was in the firing line. The nail went straight through the corner of my thumb, stuck out the other side about a quarter inch. The homeowner walked in right as I let out a yelp that probably echoed down the block. She just stared at me and asked if I wanted a band-aid. I had to pull the nail out with pliers while she watched. Thumb's sore today but no real damage. Has anyone else had a nail gun mishap in front of a client? How do you keep your cool when that happens?

Funny how a homeowner offering a band-aid is the real insult here. I've had worse paper cuts that got more sympathy. Glad your thumb's fine, but honestly that's a pretty tame story for the "nail in the hand" club.
