I think pocket holes are way overrated for face frames
Last week in my Portland shop, I had to redo a whole frame after seasonal movement popped the joints. I've been using mortise and tenon for three years now without a single callback, so why does everyone push the quick fix?

You know, it reminds me of the old houses I work on. They used proper joinery for door frames, and a hundred years later they're still solid. I see new builds with shortcuts, and the trim is already pulling away after one winter. That seasonal movement is no joke.

Ever try to fix that modern trim? I'm pretty sure my own repairs are what's holding my house together.
