I finally stopped hating on dowel joinery after one bad pocket hole day

Honestly, I spent years thinking dowels were just extra work for no real gain. Then last Tuesday I had a pocket hole jig blow out on a cherry face frame and ruined a $60 panel. I grabbed a doweling jig from the shop, took my time with alignment, and the joint came out so clean I didn't even need filler. Has anyone else switched methods after a specific failure like that?
