Had a hinge setback on a kitchen job last Wednesday

I was installing 20 Blum soft-close hinges on some new shaker doors. Thought I had the screw depth dialed in, but 3 of them stripped out in the particle board. Ended up having to glue in some toothpicks and redrill. Cost me an extra hour. I always use the same screws that come with the hinges. Anybody else run into this with newer cabinet boxes?

Wait, you stripped 3 out of 20 in particle board using the screws that come with the hinges? That's wild, those are usually decent enough for plywood or MDF but particle board is basically compressed sawdust. You'd think they'd hold better since that's what cheap cabinets are made of.

I mean honestly, is stripping 3 out of 20 that big of a deal? Maybe I'm too chill about this stuff but like, you can always just fill the stripped holes with toothpicks and wood glue or those little plastic anchor things. @brooke_walker23 says they're usually decent enough but "decent" in cabinet hardware terms is pretty subjective, you know? Unless you're building something fancy, I'd just move on and not think twice about it.
