Had a guy at the lumber yard in Albany tell me he never lets his drawer boxes sit overnight, and now I can't stop thinking about it | Cabinetmakers - The Community Guide
That bit about him never letting the drawer boxes sit overnight really got me too, because I had almost the same thing happen at a shop over in Troy. Guy there told me he glues and clamps everything the same day he cuts it, says leaving it sit lets the wood move on him and then nothing lines up right. I figured he was just being fussy, but he showed me two boxes side by side, one from the day before and one fresh, and the older one had a gap you could feel with your fingernail. Now I do mine the same way and it takes a lot of the guesswork out of it. It costs you a longer day but you stop fighting the wood.
