A timeline trap I fell into with custom mitered frames

Promised a client a set of frames in five days, but the mitered corners needed perfect alignment. Each frame took half a day just to clamp and dry properly. Ended up a full two days behind and had to apologize. Now I always add a buffer day for any glue-up work.

Actually, I do mitered frames another way. For instance, I use fast glue and a tight wrap to cut drying time down. I dry each corner on its own before putting it all together. This lets me hit close dates without adding extra days. It's more about how you work, not just more time.

Have you ever had a frame come loose from rushing the glue? In my shop, letting the whole assembly dry as one unit makes a stronger bond for the long term. It's a trade-off between speed and something that lasts.

Oh man, rushing glue is a one-way ticket to wobbly frame town. Seen it happen when someone's trying to beat the clock. Jessica's method sounds clever, but I'm with Blake on this one. Sometimes you just gotta let things sit if you want them to stick around, right?
