A finish carpenter in Denver told me to stop sanding between coats and I fought him for a week
He said the dust was embedding in my lacquer and causing all those tiny bubbles I kept blaming on humidity. I tried his way on a walnut built-in last month, zero sanding after the first coat, and the surface came out cleaner than anything I've done in 15 years. Anyone else skip the intercoat sand on oil based finishes or was this guy just lucky?
