Wasted $200 on a fancy meat grinder that couldn't handle beef sinew

I bought a shiny electric grinder from a big box store last month thinking I was upgrading my setup. First batch of chuck roast went fine but as soon as I hit some tough sinew the motor started smoking and grinding to a halt. Two more tries and the blade was dull, the auger was stripped, and the whole thing was toast. Total waste of money and I lost about 15 lbs of good trim meat in the process. Anyone else had luck with old school hand crank grinders for tougher cuts?

My buddy swore by his grandpa's old hand crank and I used to laugh at him for it. But after my $200 electric grinder died on some deer sinew last month, I finally borrowed his vintage #12 cast iron. Took me 20 minutes to grind 10 lbs of tough shoulder meat but it went through EVERYTHING without bogging down once. The blade is still sharp and I can feel every bit of resistance in the crank handle. I'd rather work a little harder and have something that actually WORKS than throw another piece of junk in the landfill.

Also worth noting that hand crank grinders don't care if the power goes out or if you're out in a shed with no electric hookup. I've got a buddy who processes his deer in a buddy's barn and running an extension cord out there is always a pain. Plus you can take a hand crank camping or to a cabin and still grind up some meat for chili without dragging a generator along.
