Pro tip: Don't use a dull bandsaw for breaking down a whole pig

I was at my shop in Portland last Saturday trying to split a 200 pound hog and the blade kept wandering on me. The meat tore instead of cut clean, wasted about 15 pounds of good shoulder and belly. Has anyone else found a reliable way to fix blade tracking mid-job without stopping every 5 minutes?

Wow, that's a painful way to learn that lesson. A dull blade on a big hog will just destroy the meat, no question about it. For tracking issues, I usually get the blade tension right and check the wheels for any buildup before I start cutting. But if you're already mid-job and the blade is wandering, stopping to sharpen or swap the blade is the only real fix I know. Fifteen pounds of good shoulder and belly is a tough loss, sorry about that.
