Found out my grandfather's cleaver is worth $340, and I almost sold it for scrap
My granddad ran a meat counter in Council Bluffs for 30 years before he passed, and I had his old carbon steel cleaver sitting in a drawer for a decade thinking it was junk. Brought it to a knife guy at a flea market in Des Moines and he pulled out a book showing the same maker's stamp from 1938, then offered me $340 cash on the spot. I kept it, but now I'm wondering how many old tools get scrapped by folks who just don't know what they're holding?
