Am I the only one who sees folks slicing brisket the wrong way?

I was at a BBQ comp in Kansas City last summer and watched a guy cut right with the grain on a prime packer. Ruined a whole $120 piece of meat in like 2 minutes. My old mentor taught me to always look for the muscle lines before you even pull it off the smoker. Has anyone else noticed more people skipping that step lately?

Tell you what, that hurts to even read. Slicing with the grain on a brisket is basically a crime against barbecue. You can take the best smoked meat on the planet and turn it into shoe leather in seconds. I blame all these YouTube videos that skip past the actual carving part and just show the money shot. A good slice against the grain makes even a so-so brisket eat way better than it has any right to.

My first brisket I was so proud of it and then ruined it by slicing with the grain. Learned that lesson real quick lol. Now I always make sure to find which way the grain runs before I even pull it off the smoker.
