Vent: the payroll service I signed up for in March billed me twice and the rep said it was "expected"
So back in March I moved my little 6 person landscaping crew over to a new payroll company because my old bookkeeper in Boise retired and I was doing it all by hand. First two months were fine, then last week I see two charges for $412.80 come out of my account on the same day. I call support and the guy tells me the double charge is "expected" during setup and it should sort itself out in 5 to 7 business days, which is real cute when that money is supposed to cover Friday's direct deposits. Now I'm sitting here with a spreadsheet trying to figure out if I should just go back to a local accountant or try another service. Has anyone dealt with a payroll company that double bills and actually got it fixed, or am I better off cutting them loose now?
Did you get anything in writing from that rep or just the phone call? I read a small business forum thread where someone had the same "it'll sort itself out" line and the refund never came, so they had to file a dispute with their bank. Seems like the move is to get the promise in an email and keep your own record of the charges either way.
