Watched a 12 person crew close out jobs in 3 weeks instead of 6, and the only thing that changed was the Monday meeting | Business Operations - The Community Guide
The Monday meeting thing makes sense but I bet what actually did it was nobody could hide anymore. On a 12 person crew you got two or three guys who coast and let the others pick up slack, and a weekly sit down forces that into the open. When everyone has to say their piece in front of the whole group, the slackers either step up or get called out by the guys doing double work. I have seen this at a restaurant during a bad stretch, we went from getting slammed and staying two hours late to getting out on time, and all we did was a ten minute stand up before service where each station said what was behind. The work did not get easier, people just stopped pretending they were busier than they were. Three weeks saved is huge though, that tells me the old timeline had a lot of built in waste nobody wanted to talk about.
