Used to run inventory on a clipboard, now it's a shared sheet, and half my crew hates it
Six years ago at our shop in Grand Rapids we did cycle counts with a clipboard and a pen, and honestly it worked fine for 40 or so SKUs. Now we're at 380 SKUs and we moved to a shared spreadsheet on a tablet last spring, mostly because two people counting the same shelf was wasting 3 to 4 hours a week. The sheet catches mistakes faster, no arguing about whose handwriting says what, but the older guys say typing on a screen feels slower than flipping a page. I see both sides. Curious what you all run with at this size, because I'm not sure a spreadsheet scales past 500 and I don't want to pay for full inventory software yet. Did anyone here switch and then go back to paper?
