Overheard my barista complaining about supply orders and it clicked

She was mad that the manager ordered 3 cases of oat milk but forgot the lids for their hot cups. Realized that small operational gaps like that cost way more than people think, and it made me audit my own vendor list yesterday. Anyone else run into ordering blind spots that cause daily headaches?

Make a checklist before you submit any order to catch those little things.

Oh come on, this is the kind of advice that sounds good but falls apart in real life. A checklist sounds fine on paper, but it adds another step to the process, and people end up rushing through it anyway. @oliver_torres4, I've seen checklists turn into a mindless scan where you just tick boxes without actually checking anything. The bigger problem is you end up with a false sense of security because you ticked the boxes but missed the real issues. It's just another piece of paper to ignore.
