Our order system crashed during a big sale and I had to fix it

It happened on Friday morning right when our spring sale went live. The whole checkout page just stopped working for about 20 minutes. I had to call our web host, Bluehost, and get them to restart our server while I posted a quick update on our social media. We still lost about 15 orders before it came back up. Has anyone else had to deal with a server crash during a peak sales time?

Bluehost during a sale is basically asking for a bad time. Their servers just can't handle real traffic. Losing orders like that is the worst kind of gut punch. You did the right thing getting on social media fast. Maybe look at a better host before your next big promotion. That kind of crash is a serious wake-up call for any online store.
