Had a client last week who wanted a full inventory count done with a drone

They run a big garden center in Phoenix and thought flying a drone over the pallets would be faster. The video was just a blur of green plants and we spent more time trying to figure out the footage than a manual count would have taken. Anyone else had a client push a tech 'solution' that just made more work?

Oh man, that's a classic. I read an article about a warehouse that tried using drones for stock checks and it was the same mess. The tech guys were all excited, but the people who actually do the counts said the drone kept missing items stacked in shadows or behind columns. It sounds smart until you realize a person with a clipboard can look under a shelf. Sometimes the simple way is the right way.

Exactly what @amy_robinson said. It's like they forget that tech needs to solve a real problem, not just look cool. A person can spot a damaged box or something out of place that a drone's camera would totally miss.
