A vendor quoted me $12k for a basic CRM integration and laughed when I asked for a breakdown
I overheard them telling their intern they always pad those quotes by 40% because most operations teams don't push back. Has anyone else gotten a ridiculous quote for something that should be straightforward, and how did you handle it?

Lol that's wild but honestly not surprising. I'd get 2 more quotes and make them compete against each other, that usually kills the padding real quick.

Competing quotes is the one time being cheap works in your favor... I'd probably still pick the worst option just because they seemed nice though. My track record with big purchases is basically just hoping for the best while assuming I messed up somewhere.
