PSA: I stopped using one big monthly spread and it fixed my whole journal
I used to build one giant monthly spread on the first of each month, and it was always a mess by day 10. Half the boxes were empty, my task list spilled into the margin, and I quit looking at it. About 4 months ago I switched to a simple weekly layout and a two-page running task list, and I actually fill the thing now. The weekly pages take me maybe 10 minutes on Sunday instead of the 45 I was burning on that fancy spread. If your monthly page ends up blank by the middle of the month, that is your sign to stop drawing it. What layout got you to actually stick with it, and what did you drop to get there?
Ha, I did the same thing and it was like a weight off. I dropped the monthly grid for a plain weekly list plus one running to-do page in the back, and now I actually flip through it daily instead of feeling guilty about empty boxes. Keep the weekly setup short enough to do in ten minutes, because the second it turns into a craft project you'll skip it again.
