Is anyone else tired of the color-coded key trend?

I keep seeing folks post these super neat keys where every single category has its own highlighter and pen. I mean, I get it looks pretty, but I tried that for about a month back in February and spent more time picking colors than actually writing stuff down. My appointments blurred together anyway, so what was the point? Maybe it's just me, but I think a simple dot or a quick arrow works way better for tracking tasks than a whole rainbow system. Does anyone else keep it basic and feel like it works just as fine, or am I the odd one out here?

Pretty colors don't fix bad memory, so maybe just find a system that sticks.
