Bullet journaling has become too pretty for its own good

I see a trend where bullet journaling focuses too much on how pages look. It makes me mad because the method should help you be quick and organized. For example, I once made a weekly page with lots of drawings, but I missed important deadlines. Another time, I created a colorful habit tracker, but it was too hard to use daily. Now I just write down tasks with dots and crosses, and I finish more work. We should remember that bullet journaling is for planning, not for art. Keep it useful, not just nice to look at.

My Instagram feed is full of those fancy bullet journal spreads. Is it really a big deal if some people enjoy making theirs pretty though? The original method is still there for people who want it simple.

Right but isn't Barbara's point just that it's all a bit over the top?

Wait, hold on a second. Over the top? Mia_hernandez, have you seen some of these spreads? People are using watercolor paints and tiny rulers to draw perfect city skylines for their weekly meal plan. The original method was a few bullet points in a notebook. Now it's a full art project that takes longer than the tasks you're writing down. It feels like the point got lost somewhere.
