My uncle told me to always round up my grocery budget by 20 bucks

He said if I budgeted exactly $300 a month for food, I would go over every time. I brushed him off for a year and overspent by $40 on average each month. Has anyone else had a relative give them a simple money tip that actually ended up being dead on?

My dad told me the same thing about taxes specifically. He’d say “you only worry about what you owe when you’re making money” and he was spot on. But for me, I actually find that not all bills are the same warning signs, you know? Some bills like electricity are just the price of living, while others like car insurance jumps can feel more random. @linda626, I guess your dad had a sharper eye for the ones that really mattered.
