My brother called my grocery budget 'random' and it stung
He looked at my receipts from March and pointed out I was spending $60 a week on snacks and drinks alone, which I hadn't even tracked separately. I started putting that $60 cash in an envelope each Monday and once it's gone, no more treats until next week. Has anyone else had a simple comment make them see a huge spending leak?

That envelope system is a solid start, but calling it a "spending leak" might be too harsh on yourself. It was just untracked spending, which is different from a true leak like forgotten subscriptions. My own snack budget is about $40, and I don't feel bad about it because it's planned. The real win here is you made an invisible habit visible and now you control it.

Yeah, that "invisible habit" line is spot on. Most of my dumb spending isn't on big stuff, it's just the daily coffee and lunch I never write down. Putting a name to it makes it feel less like a mystery tax on my account.
