Just saw a huge price jump on the basic grocery staples at my local store in Springfield
I was at the Food Fair on Oak Street yesterday picking up my normal stuff, milk, bread, eggs, you know. The same exact loaf of wheat bread I bought for $2.49 last month is now $3.89. A dozen large eggs went from $1.99 to $3.29. I stood there in the aisle and just did the math in my head for my usual weekly trip. That's an extra $8-10 without even trying. It's not the fancy stuff, it's the basics. My budget sheet from last month is basically useless now if I don't adjust. Has anyone else in the area noticed this and found a cheaper store that hasn't hiked prices yet?

The Food Fair on Oak Street is exactly where I saw it too. I had the same shock with a gallon of milk, it was $2.79 and now it's sitting at $4.19. My regular block of store brand cheddar cheese jumped over a dollar in one week. It feels like you need a second job just to afford a simple sandwich these days.

That cheese jump is brutal, try the discount racks near closing.
