Just realized my 'emergency fund' was making me spend more on dumb stuff
After moving $500 from my checking to a separate savings account last month, I found myself buying a new jacket I didn't need because I felt like I still had 'extra' money, so what's a good way to make that money feel truly out of reach?

Man that's so real, I've done the exact same thing with a "fun money" envelope. What finally worked for me was putting that cash in a savings account at a totally different bank, one I don't even have an app for on my phone. Having to physically log in on a computer makes it feel like a whole big thing to get to it.

That whole idea of making money "feel out of reach" is where I see it differently. For me, it's not about the feeling, it's about the actual system. I just automate a transfer to a savings account at a totally different bank on payday. If I don't see it in my main account, I can't spend it.
