Just found out my grocery store's unit price labels lie, and I checked every shelf
I was standing in the pasta aisle at a Kroger in Columbus last Tuesday and noticed the little unit price tag under the Barilla said 12 cents per ounce when the box math actually came out to 16 cents. So I pulled out my phone calculator and checked ten more items on that same trip. Four of them were off, and every single one was off in the store's favor. The worst was a bag of frozen shrimp where the shelf tag said $9.99 per pound but the actual weight came to $13.40 per pound once I did the math. I emailed the store manager with photos and he said the tags get updated by a third party vendor and they would look into it. That was 3 weeks ago and the shrimp tag still says the same thing. I started keeping a running note on my phone of which aisles have bad tags so I know when to double check. Has anyone else caught their store doing this, and did complaining actually fix it or did you just start shopping somewhere else?
