I used to think meal prepping on Sunday was the only way to save money on food

Last month I tried just cooking double portions during the week instead and saved $45 on groceries because I wasn't buying extra ingredients for separate prep meals. What's your go-to budget trick that goes against the usual advice?

$45 savings just from cooking double portions? That's wild.

You know what, @perez.mia, it really adds up fast, doesn't it? I started doing this a few years back when I got tired of wasting food and money. Now I cook a big batch of something on Sunday, like chili or a roast chicken with veggies, and we eat off it for two or three days. Between the groceries themselves and the fact that I'm not tempted to order takeout because there's something ready, I bet I save close to $60 a week. It feels good to not have to think about dinner every single night too.
