I tracked every dollar for 30 days in a $2 notebook from Walgreens instead of using an app, and I actually stuck with it
I tried three different budget apps over the last year and quit all of them within two weeks because tapping in every purchase felt like homework. So last month I grabbed a $2 notebook from the Walgreens on 5th and just wrote down everything, groceries, gas, coffee, all of it. I ended up $180 under my usual spending because seeing it on paper made me think twice at the register. The apps hid the total from me until the end of the month, but the notebook showed me where I stood every single day. Curious if anyone else has gone back to paper for this.
Totally wrote off paper budgets as old school until reading this. Something about physically writing it down makes you actually feel the money leaving, you know? Apps just make it too easy to swipe and forget.
