I thought the envelope system was just for people who can't use a debit card
My friend in Chicago kept telling me to try it for my grocery and gas money. I finally put $400 cash in two envelopes last month. It felt weird at first, but I spent $50 less without even trying. Seeing the physical money go down made me think twice about extra snacks. Anyone else have a simple trick like this that actually worked?

Oh man, that's so true. I read this article about how our brains just don't register digital spending the same way. Swiping a card feels like nothing, but handing over actual cash creates a real sense of loss. That's probably why you held back on those extra snacks.

My bank account wishes I still used cash.
