Finally got my grocery bill under $75 a week after switching to a meal plan

I sat down last Sunday and wrote out every dinner for the month, which cut my impulse buys at the store in half. Has anyone else found a specific trick that slashed their food spending?

My friend tried that and ended up wasting more food when plans changed. Isn't that rigid planning just trading one stress for another?

My friend Blair makes a good point about plans changing, but honestly I've found most people waste more money on random takeout than they do on a few spoiled veggies.
