Chose the $15 store brand over the $40 name brand and my wallet did a happy dance
Last month I stood in the grocery aisle staring at two big bags of dog food. The store brand was $15 and the fancy one was $40. I picked the cheap one even though I felt like a bad pet mom. My dog Luna has been eating it for 3 weeks now and she still runs around like a maniac. Her coat looks the same and she hasn't turned her nose up once. That $25 saved every month adds up to $300 a year. I could put that toward her vet visit or a new leash. Anyone else switch to store brand pet food and see zero difference, or did your pet stage a protest?

Three weeks is nothing when it comes to dog food though. The stuff that actually hurts dogs is the long game, like kidney and heart issues that show up after years of eating food with the wrong balance of stuff in it. Name brands pay real vets to test their recipes, and the store brand bags are often made by whoever bids lowest that year, so the recipe can change without any warning on the label. You saved $25 a month but a single vet visit for a diet related problem runs way more than that $300 you're counting up.
