Can we talk about the $47 a month I stopped losing to grocery delivery apps
I sat down three Sundays ago and added up every delivery order I made in June, and it came to $212 in fees and tips on top of the food itself. So I started doing one big in-person run every Sunday morning with a written list, and I've kept the same $180 grocery budget for two months straight without running out of anything. Has anyone else made the switch back to shopping in person, or did you find a pickup service that doesn't tack on a markup?
Kept the same budget only if you're not counting the value of your Sunday morning time, which for a 60 to 90 minute run is basically like $15 to $20 an hour of unpaid work. Pickup services at most stores don't add a markup, so that might get you the same savings without losing your weekend.
