Why does everyone drill their surround speakers into the wall at ear height?
I keep seeing guys mount their surround speakers at seated ear level, right beside the couch, and then complain the sound feels weird and flat. Dolby's own setup guide puts surrounds 2 to 3 feet above ear height and slightly behind you, because your ears can't place a sound that's firing straight into them, it just feels like it's inside your head. I ran mine at ear height for 8 months in my little 12x14 basement room and thought my $60 used receiver was junk, then I raised them 2 feet and angled them down and it was a totally different setup for zero dollars. What height are you all running yours at, and did you notice a real change when you moved them?
