Shoutout to the thrift store subwoofer trick that actually works

Honestly, I spent like 6 months trying to get decent bass out of a cheap soundbar setup in my basement. Then I grabbed an old 10-inch Polk subwoofer from Goodwill for $15 and paired it with a basic $40 Lepai amp from Amazon. It shook the whole room way better than I expected, and the whole thing cost less than a pizza run. Has anyone else scored a random sub find that punched way above its price?

Oh man, same thing happened to me with a JBL sub I found at a garage sale for $10. Hooked it up to an old receiver I had lying around and suddenly my tiny living room sounded like a movie theater. Best accidental upgrade I ever made, for real.

Respectfully disagree. I tried that thrift store sub trick once and it just made my whole setup sound boomy and muddy, not actually musical.
