I went in to look at a used projector for my basement setup with about $250 to spend, and the older man behind the counter said to skip it and put the money into a plain 42 inch TV instead. He told me a cheap projector in a room with any light in it looks washed out and gray, and I figured he was just pushing what he had on the shelf. I set the TV up two weeks ago, and he was right, the picture pops even with the lamp on, which a $250 projector never would have done. Now I keep wondering what else he was right about. Has anyone run a budget projector in a room that is not fully dark, and did it actually work for you?
