My brother in law laughed at my $40 projector screen idea, then ate his words at movie night
He kept saying a white bedsheet taped to the wall would look terrible, so I almost caved and put $300 on a credit card for a real screen. Instead I bought a $40 roll of blackout cloth from the fabric store in Garland and built a wooden frame from scrap 2x4s I already had in the garage. Two Saturdays later we watched Jurassic Park in my converted spare room and he sat there quiet for the whole opening scene. The blackout cloth gave us deep blacks that the sheet never could, and the frame cost me about 12 bucks in screws and brackets. Anyone else go the DIY fabric route and did you find something even cheaper that still looks good?
Man that's such a good feeling when someone talks trash and then has to sit there quiet. I went the blackout cloth route too after my buddy swore a sheet would be fine, and yeah, the blacks are just night and day better for like 30 bucks. You honestly can't beat scrap wood and fabric for a movie setup.
