Measured my screen throw distance after 2 years, turns out I had it wrong the whole time

Pulled up the projector manual last night to help a friend pick a budget model. Scrolled to the throw ratio chart and realized my Epson has been projecting at about 85% of its max size because my ceiling mount is 6 inches too far back. I mounted it in 2022 using a rough tape measure and never checked again. Moved it forward this morning, gained 12 inches of diagonal picture for free. Now I'm wondering how many other people here have setups that are secretly undersized or oversized because they eyeballed the distance. Did anyone else find a spec sheet fact that completely changed their layout after the fact?

Honestly, I feel this so hard. Tbh I spent a whole year convinced my screen was too small and I was about to buy a whole new projector, but then I realized I had the zoom ring set to like half way the whole time. Ngl, I felt like a total idiot when I finally turned it and my image got way bigger without moving anything. It's wild how we just set stuff up once and never think about it again, and then one random night you're looking at specs and everything clicks. Makes me want to go re-check my whole setup for the millionth time just in case I'm leaving something else on the table.
