Just found out IMAX film prints weigh 600 pounds and now my $800 setup feels tiny
I was reading an article about Oppenheimer last week and it said one IMAX film print weighs around 600 pounds and takes up a whole room to store. Meanwhile I'm sitting here proud of my $800 build in the basement with a used Epson projector and a painted wall. It made me feel better about going cheap honestly, because the gap between what I have and the real thing is so huge that it stopped being a fair comparison in my head. Anyone else just stop worrying about upgrading once you saw how crazy the high end actually gets?
The Oppenheimer print was like 11 miles of film too, I read that somewhere. Once you picture a guy physically hauling reels that size into a booth, your used Epson starts looking pretty smart. The high end just turns into a totally different hobby at that point, like comparing a go kart to a rocket.
