Found a $20 thrift store subwoofer at Goodwill on Tuesday that changed my whole setup

I was just browsing the electronics section near the back, and someone had donated an old Polk Audio sub. Hooked it up to my cheap Sony receiver and the bass actually fills my 12x14 living room. Has anyone else scored decent audio gear from thrift stores, or is this just a one-time luck thing?

Read a thing online last week about how thrift stores are actually goldmines for older audio gear because people upgrade and just dump the old stuff. Found a JBL center channel speaker at a Salvation Army a couple years back for like 8 bucks and it matched my fronts almost perfectly. The trick is to go during weekday afternoons when the good donations hit the floor before the resellers grab everything. Your Polk find is solid, those older Polks are built way better than the cheap stuff they sell now.
