I set up a 5.1 system in a spare bedroom with bare walls, so I grabbed 24 thin panels thinking anything soft would kill the echo, but after taping them up last month the room sounds dead and muddy instead of clean. Turns out the cheap 1 inch stuff does almost nothing below the midrange, and now I'm staring at 24 sticky squares I already stuck on the wall. Did anyone here actually fix a small room on a tight budget, or should I just pull them down and live with the echo?
