Appreciation post: The guy who convinced me to ditch my overpriced soundbar

I was at a garage sale last month in Wichita and this older dude was selling old speakers for like $20 each. I told him I was looking for a soundbar upgrade and he just laughed. He said 'son, you're paying for plastic and marketing' and then showed me how to hook up a pair of old Pioneer floorstanders to a cheap receiver he had. Took him 10 minutes. I went home, found a used receiver for $30 on Facebook, and now my whole room shakes for under $50. Best decision I ever made. Anyone else have a random stranger change your mind about something simple?

$20 for Pioneer floorstanders at a garage sale? That's actually insane lol. I spent like $200 on a soundbar last year and it sounds like garbage compared to my buddy's thrift store setup. Guess I'm hitting up garage sales this weekend before I waste more money on plastic.
