Pro tip: the mimic chest in the flooded basement got me 3 times and now I skip it every run
Lost about 40 minutes of progress at level 27 in that castle basement room on Saturday when I grabbed the chest by reflex instead of checking it first, so I ask now: does anyone actually bait mimics before opening, or do you just take the risk?

Why do people keep grabbing chests without checking first? One hit from a mimic is enough for me to slow down every time after that. I just poke it from max range with a weak spell or a rock if the game lets me, cheap way to test it. Takes two seconds and saves you from losing an hour of play. Skipping the chest is fine too, no loot is worth that kind of walk back.
