Discovered my favorite RPG has been lying about failure rates this whole time

So I was digging through the game files on my PC last night after a particularly frustrating session where my 95% hit chance missed three times in a row. I found a data miner's post on a gaming forum who actually decompiled the code, and get this - the game secretly caps your real success rate at 85% no matter what the UI shows. The developer put in a hidden 'anti frustration' system that actually makes you fail more often when you're doing well. Has anyone else found hidden stats like this in other games that totally change how you play?

Man that "anti frustration" thing is wild, but honestly it fits a pattern I see everywhere. Like how gas stations put the regular unleaded pump right next to the premium so you feel dumb for not paying more, or how grocery stores put the expensive stuff at eye level. It feels like the same trick these devs used - they want to control your experience by lying to you about the numbers. I noticed this in a free mobile game once where the "random" loot drops were rigged to give you junk until you spent money, then suddenly you get good stuff. Makes me wonder what other games are pulling this same kind of silent manipulation behind the scenes.

Wait, how do you actually KNOW when a game is doing this vs just having genuinely bad RNG? Like, did anyone ever dig into the code or files of that mobile game you played, or was it just a feeling? Because I've seen people swear a game is rigged when they're just unlucky, and then other times it turns out the devs really did have hidden pity systems and weighted odds. Seems like there's no way to tell unless someone datamines or the devs get caught in a lawsuit or something. Curious if you or anyone else ever found actual proof of that loot thing, or if it's mostly gut instinct.
