Can we talk about how dodge roll i-frames in Souls games are basically a lie after patch 1.07?
Three years ago I beat Dark Souls 3 on NG+7 with a broken straight sword and I could dodge roll through anything if I timed it right at 30 fps. Last month I picked up Elden Ring again after the Shadow of the Erdtree patch and I swear the i-frames on the medium roll are shorter than they used to be. I spent four hours stuck on the same boss in the DLC, dying to attacks that I KNOW I dodged because the animation showed my character mid-roll. So I did some digging and found out that FromSoft tweaked the dodge timing in a patch to make the game harder without telling anyone in the notes. But here is the debate: is this a bug, or is it just a dumb design choice that makes the game feel unfair? Some people say it rewards skill and you just need to git gud, but others say if the animation does not match the hitbox, that is a broken game. I am stuck in the middle because I love these games but I am tired of feeling like I am fighting the code instead of the enemy. What do you all think, is this something the devs should fix or should we just accept it as part of the challenge?
