Wasted almost $200 on a cheap mortar mixer from a big box store

That thing barely lasted two jobs before the drum started wobbling like crazy and the welds cracked. Has anyone else had better luck with a specific brand of mixer or should I just rent one from now on?

Rent one. That's the move for anything bigger than a 5 gallon bucket mix. Those cheap electric mixers from the big box stores are built for one project then tossed. Had the exact same thing happen with a brand new one from Menards, drum separated from the frame on the third pour. Local rental place has a Honda powered mixer that costs me about 60 bucks for a weekend and its been beat to hell for 10 years but still runs smooth. Unless you're mixing mud every week, renting saves the headache and the floor space.
