Unpopular opinion: mixing mortar by hand is better than using a mixer for small jobs

Last Saturday I was doing a little repair on my back patio wall in Tucson, about 20 bricks. Dragged out my electric mixer, extension cord, the whole setup. Took me 15 minutes just to get it all going. Then I realized I could've just mixed a half bag on a board with a trowel in maybe 5 minutes. For big pours sure use the mixer, but for anything under 50 bricks I think the extra cleanup and cord wrestling isn't worth it. Anyone else go back to hand mixing for smaller stuff?

Used a shovel and a wheelbarrow for my last small patch, worked great.
