Tuck pointing with a grinder bag instead of a mortar bag

I spent years fighting with a mortar bag on repair jobs. It was slow, messy, and my wrists would ache by lunch. Then an old timer on a job in Tulsa told me to try a heavy duty pastry bag from a restaurant supply store. I cut the tip to about a half inch and used it for a 40 foot wall patch last month. It gave me way more control and I finished the pointing in one day instead of two. Anyone else ever tried this or am I the only one who ditched the traditional bag for good?

Pastry bags rip way too easy on rough brick, the mortar bag holds up better in real jobs.
