That old timer who told me to wet my bricks before laying them was right all along
I remember my first job back in 2014, this guy named Frank who had been laying since the 70s kept telling me to dunk my bricks in water before setting them. I thought he was just being old school and stubborn, you know? So I skipped it on a hot July job in Phoenix and watched half the wall start cracking by the next afternoon. The suction was so bad the mortar dried out in like 10 minutes and never bonded right. Had to tear down about 8 feet of a garden wall and redo it, which cost me a whole weekend. Has anyone else learned a lesson the hard way from ignoring the older guys on site?
