Stopped by the Bruges brickyard museum last weekend

I was on a trip to Belgium and visited the Bruges Brickyard Museum on Spaanse Loskaai. They had this old 1940s kiln that was still in working condition, and the guide showed me how they used to fire bricks in stacks of 5,000 at a time. Really made me appreciate modern kilns, but also respect the craft from back then. Has anyone else checked out a brickmaking museum or old brickyard site?

Oh man, the Bruges museum is great but if you want a real hands-on experience, find the Brickworks Museum in Bavins, England. I had the same thing happen with an old kiln there and the guide actually let me fire a few bricks myself. Wear closed-toe shoes if you go, the floors are uneven and you'll be dodging loose bricks everywhere. Also call ahead because sometimes they close early for demo firing days. Bring cash for the gift shop too, they have these cool handmade brick paperweights that don't show up online.

Number 11 paperweight is secretly the best one.
